This is a quote from Rafael Nodal:
“The Oliveros SGR is a continuation of our new vision, which started 2 years ago with the release of the Swag Puro Dominicano and continued with the release of the Aging Room Small Batch,” said Rafael Nodal, President of Boutique Blends Cigars and Oliveros Cigars.

Rafael has done us all a good deed. He produces quality cigars at price points that make his products easily attainable by everyone. We should all bow down to Mr. Nodal.

I have not tried this blend and it has been sitting in my humidor for a month. I am anxious to try it.

It is a dreary, overcast day in Milwaukee; and as I heavily depend on the sunlight from my dining room window for my photos, I must apologize to Mr. Nodal and the reader for the quality of my pictures.

Construction is rock solid. With just the right amount of give. The wrapper is a gorgeous dark coffee bean with that darker mottling that I think really ups the anty on the aesthetics of a cigar. There are lots of veins and a couple big ones. It is very oily and has a bit of tooth.

I clip the cap to find aromas of spice, leather, dried fruit and lemon zest. There is some scrumptious dark baking cocoa in there. And some delightful baking spices.
Time to light up.

The first puffs are spicy. Black pepper. Unless you are a good cook, I have no idea what white pepper tastes like. I have never once used it. It is mainly to maintain the color of what you are cooking. So I have to assume that it tastes the same.
The aromas manifest themselves into flavors. Leather is right behind the spice. The dried fruit is raisin. And the citrusy lemon zest is tart and juicy. Like me.

The draw is perfect. And the char line is dead nuts. An earlier review of a different brand was a nightmare due to the craziness of the burn line. It just went wild and I had to do everything in my power to keep it from becoming a canoe. So this perfect burn line is a delight.

An earthy component enters and rounds out the other flavors. The leather reminds me of a new leather jacket smell.
The pepper turns to red pepper. That flavor is one where I can tell the difference as my tongue tingles and my eyes water.

And it commands the lead. A note of oak shows up. Increasing the earthy component.

This is turning out to be my kind of cigar. I love spice. And the citrus element adds to the tanginess. The sweetness of the raisin offsets that profile nicely.

Close to the end of the first third, creaminess arrives. The body of the cigar is classic medium.

I looked for info on the Oliveros web site and it sticks to only their high premium cigars. I would love to provide more info on this cigar, but I can’t.

The second third begins and while the red pepper is right up front, the lemon zest becomes much stronger. The creaminess follows the citrus. And behind that is the raisin, oak, and leather.

The Corojo wrapper continues to heavily influence the flavor profile. I hit the halfway point and the cigar is plain delicious.

I checked Cbid and while CI sells the stick for $6, you can snag this stick on Cbid for half that. Now that’s a deal.

My earlier review of an $8 cigar from a different manufacturer is ludicrous. Here I have a $3-$6 cigar that stomps the living hell out of that more expensive brand blend. Clearly, the life span of that $8 stick won’t be long.

At the halfway point, I remove the secondary band. The citrus has its pedal to the metal.

The cigar derives its complexity from the now morphed flavor profile. Everything is on an even keel. Nothing overwhelms another flavor. Flavors are chugging together to seek one goal…a well-balanced cigar.

The last third begins and is cruising on Whittier Blvd. Flavor balance is perfect.

No new flavors are added. It’s running perfectly just the way it is.

The last bit of the cigar finishes out just shy of full bodied. It isn’t harsh or bitter. And is as cool as a cuke.

The flavors work in tandem and this makes for one helluva’ cigar. This is a cigar one wants in their humidor all the time. It is the perfect go-to cigar.
