Today we take a look at Bespoke Cigars Daughters of the Wind Piramide.

I should mention that Bespoke is a sponsor. But that has only happened in the last few months. I’ve known Jeremy Casdagli since 2015 and began reviewing his cigars at the start of 2016. So I was a big fan long before the sponsorship. So nothing has changed. It is the only double digit priced cigar brand that I’ve highly endorsed for 2 years. In fact, the Bespoke Cotton Tail was my No.1 cigar for 2015. The Gran Mareva was my No.1 cigar for 2016.

“These cigars are hand crafted in Costa Rica by Don Olman Guzman. These blends being dominated by the rich flavours emanating from Peru, Ecuador, Cuba and Nicaragua. “The Daughters of the Wind“ is a famous Arabian poem written in the 6th century inspired by the beauty of Bedouin horses. In the early 1900s Demy & Alick Casdagli purchased the Sheikh Obeyd stables just outside Cairo and became celebrated breeders of Arabian race horses. They gaining particular success with breeding the Dahman strain with a famous mare called Bint Bint Durra. “The Dahman is a very rare breed famed for its strength, elegance and refinement. We wanted to celebrate this with the launching of a small production of cigars with these attributes.”

“This cigar is blended especially for Bespoke cigars by master blender Olman Leon Guzman in the Vegas Santiago factory, Puriscal, Costa Rica.”

DESCRIPTION:
A gorgeous oily and glistening wrapper. Totally free of toothiness. Construction is flawless. Seams are jam up and jelly tight. Veins add a distinctive and classy look. The pointed cap is perfect. And ends with a closed foot. The cigar is so tightly filled that this big cigar is going to be a long review. Sometimes I wish I could smoke a cigar the day before I publish a review just by taking notes. But I can’t do that. I have to be in the moment; and drag you with me.

AROMAS AND COLD DRAW POINTS:
From the shaft, I can smell giant notes of floral (lavender, roses), caramel, chocolate, malt, cedar, marzipan, espresso, caramel, thick fresh honey, ginger, heavy cream, green tea, and orange marmalade.

From the clipped cap and the foot, I can smell all of the above with the added blast of superhot black and red peppers. And a tsunami of spicy cinnamon.

The cold draw presents flavors of cream, pepper, gorgeous milk chocolate, loads of malt, cedar, nuts, coffee, floral notes, and honey.

FIRST THIRD:
I did find a small plug behind the cigar band area. I whipped out my PerfecDraw cigar poker tool and with two whooshes, it was clear as a bell.

I like to toast the foot of every cigar I smoke before lighting up. I use an inexpensive angled lighter to do this. A regular one can char the wrapper.

And we’re off to the races..
Big jumbo shrimp flavors of caramel, creaminess, red and black peppers, big malts, espresso, milk chocolate, cedar, nougat, cinnamon, salted almonds, green tea, and a touch of orange zest.
Big start.

But then, it should be everything a cigar should be at $20. I expect oral sex for $20. That’s what I pay my wife on Friday nights.

I’ve never once been disappointed by a Bespoke blend and I’ve smoked nearly all of them. They are the only cigars I can think of worth the crazy price points. Of course, I’m speaking for myself and a lot of others; but I’ve gotten a lot of emails from readers who took advantage of trying a Bespoke and all have thanked me for enticing them. Bespoke is a major force in the cigar industry. Keep your Padrons or Opus X’s. From that perspective, the $20 price point is more than fair.

Only 3/4” into the cigar, the complexity hits me like a hunka, hunka, burnin’ love.

This cigar is now a major player in my eyes. The burn is impeccable. The flavor profile is on Alert Level 5.

I feel like a big boy being allowed the haunting responsibility of enjoying something so special that I should feel a ton of guilt and shame. But you know me…I feel no shame.

The complexity is so intense that I feel a stirring in my loins. I want to take the Bespoke Cigars Daughters of the Wind Piramide to bed with me like Gene Wilder took the sheep to bed with him in the Woody Allen flick. But I won’t dress this cigar in silk stockings. But then let’s wait and see how this blend turns out. You never know.

I had a hard time waking up this morning. I was thinking of calling off this review for another day but after 17 cups of coffee, I’m ready to go. I’m glad I shook it off because I’m being rewarded with a spectacular experience.

The strength is straight ahead medium. It bills itself as a mellow adventure. I question the adjective, mellow. This is anything but…this is exciting having the opportunity to smoke and review such a behemoth blend.

The filler is packed perfectly providing a slow go as it picks up steam in complexity, transitions, finish, and the absolute myriad of flavors.

I sometimes rant about bad cigars. I sometimes go overboard raving about beautiful blends. This is a whole different bird.
Damn.

I’ve never smoked this blend before today. I had only one single so I had to guess when it would be ready. I think I picked the right moment.

Did you know that owner of Bespoke, Jeremy Casdagli, family goes back to the 1800’s in the art of cigar production? This man has paid his dues plus some. He blends cigars for specific clients all over the world. You get to smoke the same thing as sheiks and monarchs developed specifically for them.
The sun is shining here in Wisconsin. Going to be a beautiful day. And it’s starting out with the perfect way a cigar enthusiast deserves.

SECOND THIRD:
Smoke time is 40 minutes.

A whirling dervish of reward circuits are emitted from my amygdala. This is a treat to beat all treats.
I’ve never described this before. But it’s almost as if the flavors don’t matter. The stunning character of this blend is awe inspiring. I know that’s a helluva’ statement but it’s no B.S. I’ve had a magical spell cast upon me by the Bespoke Cigars Daughters of the Wind Piramide.

I had to break the ash off to continue. It would not budge. I also did not want it to use an escape pod and find my lap as a landing zone.

Flavors are super smooth. Strength remains at medium. Complexity is over the moon.

When you were a teen, did you ever moon a car full of high school girls and have the driver of your car roll up the electric window with your arse still hanging out? Me neither.

I get the mellow reference from Bespoke now. I’m fully relaxed and at peace with the world. You could run a weed whacker over my head and I wouldn’t care.

The most prolific flavors: Cream, malt, black pepper, caramel, floral galore, nuttiness, cinnamon, sweet ice tea, marzipan, ginger, cedar, and dark espresso.

The complexity portion of this experience has totally taken over the flavor profile and is making the blend its sex slave. There must be a better way to describe this…Smooth but intense. Balanced but exploratory. Loads of character but floating in space like a thousand asteroids. A bird bath full of beautiful birds. And I believe I’m losing my mind.

Back on planet earth, the Bespoke Cigars Daughters of the Wind Piramide is plain and simple; a killer cigar. I’d pay $20 for this experience in a heartbeat. No questions asked.

This is the cigar you want to hand out to your closest friends on a Sunday while watching sports and putting giant racks of ribs on the BBQ. This is a cigar you deserve when you are either up or extremely down. It cures all. Hopefully, Big Pharma won’t get its dirty little hands on this blend.

Big mistake shaking loose the huge ash. The cigar went out while typing.

Lighting the cigar creates a firestorm of flavors rushing to my palate and puny brain. I’m now a lizard creature. Oh wait…that was Jim Morrison.

Construction is absolutely on the money. Not a single issue to bitch about. This is a masterpiece of creation.

I rail all the time about useless expensive cigars. And they rightfully deserve to be treated like rats in your cistern. This is what an expensive cigar should be. A ride on a magic carpet ride that brings every moment into frame and pushing out the inside dialog that plagues the curious mind.

I still have 4 or 5 more new Bespokes to review. I can’t wait. Once again, I asked Jeremy and Vlada to send me cigars that both Cigars City and Small Batch sell. Otherwise, what’s the point of reviewing a cigar you can’t purchase?

The halfway point arrives too soon at one hour 10 minutes.
I should take a selfie. I have a huge shit eatin’ grin on my puss that I just cannot control.

This is normally the time I complain about big cigars. I like the smaller ones because they tend to be much more flavorful than their big brothers. Not in this case. I’m getting all the flavor from this redwood tree as I would from a corona gorda (5.75 x 46).

The classic radio station on cable is playing “Free Bird.” I cannot begin to count the number of times I played out in a blues band and some drunk would scream the name of that song. My bands were always made up of blues snobs. Me too. We sometimes strayed from the path and played some great R&B but never classic rock. I made it my life’s conviction never to play “Tie a Yellow Ribbon.”

Strength creeps up to medium/full. Now it’s kicking arse.
The strength element has emboldened this blend. The complexity is mind bending. The finish is an all-day sucker.
Plain and simple…the Bespoke Cigars Daughters of the Wind Piramide is a perfect cigar. Let that sink in. Perfect.

LAST THIRD:
Smoke time is one hour 40 minutes.

Look up leisurely in the dictionary and see a picture of this stick.
Sweet Spot 75.6. The flavor profile is so intricate that it feels like my toupee is going to fly off my head at any moment. A Frisbee made of horsehair. (That’s all that Medicare would pay for).
This is the best cigar I’ve smoked in 2018.

Look at the gorgeous ash.

The last third really shines. All of its components have met in Gibraltar and come to the conclusion that this is going to be the best part of today’s cigar experience.

There is a rolling wave of complexity, transitions, and flavors. Just when you think you’ve seen all that the Bespoke Cigars Daughters of the Wind Piramide can give, it surprises you with increased character and whispers to your ear that you can’t live without trying this stick again and again. It’s like a complex film thriller. Just when you think you’ve figured the plot out, it changes up and shocks you with twists and turns.

This cigar is so godamm delicious that I can barely stand it without exploding from spontaneous combustion. A poof of smoke and I join the long list of drummers in Spinal Tap.

I am elongating this moment in time. I am in panic mode as I now see the end of the cigar as imminent.

I am already in mourning for its disappearance into the ether. I will meet it again on the other side.
I’ve got a wood tobacco pipe. I plan to put the remains of this cigar in it and finish it off til it’s totally cremated.

Look, I know this is an expensive cigar. But just like not minding spending a fortune at a great restaurant, I believe you get what you pay for…most of the time.
But this ain’t your normal blend. It fascinates and delights full bore. No prisoners.

I most definitely recommend the Bespoke Cigars Daughters of the Wind Piramide…especially newbies.
This has been the most fun I’ve had with my boxers on.
It finishes without a hint of harshness and with almost zero nicotine.
Final smoke time is two hours 10 minutes.
