RATS! | NO Cigar Reviews by the Katman

I’ve got pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung…and all the symptoms of CoronaVirus.
There are not enough Covid tests in Wisconsin.
The hospitals are only testing first responders and health care professionals.
Therefore, I was diagnosed without the test.

The pneumonia and related symptoms aren’t much fun; but I will get well like most people.

Be back as soon as I’m well.
Phil

  1. Ever thought about moving out of Siberia? Warmth and sunshine on the NC coast!! I’m sure the move didn’t help.

  5. Phil,
I blame Rocky Patel and that shitty, 3 rated cigar – I’m still laughing. Get well soon brother! The world is just a little more boring without your reviews.

  6. Godspeed, Uncle Katman!

  7. Good luck getting tested, my 83 yr old parents tested negative when the virus was first detected. They were quarantined for 5 days that’s how long the test took. Prayers Phil.

  8. Be well Phil! I’ve read that it helps to lay on your tummy.

  9. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. So sorry you’re going through this.

  10. Phil
Kept up your wonderful sense of humor and I know you will come this this and smoking your Corona Gordos before you know it .

    Cheers🍺

  11. Hang in there Phil!

  12. This is bullshit. On the one hand, i will save money, but on the other, I need some cigars. Get well soon.

  13. Hey Katman – Hang in there and get better soon!

  14. I got sicker and sicker. It came on quickly. The media is scaring the shit out of us. That can’t do our immune systems any good…
I now think that smoking cigars during this time was not a good idea for me. I’m already compromised. I am diabetic and have an immune disorder. But cigars relax me. And stuck at home, relaxation was welcomed.

The day I found I out I most assuredly had Covid was frustrating and aggravating beyond words.
I did a video conference with my doctor. He told me I looked terrible. Big smile…I was coughing and wheezing.
He told me to go to an Aurora urgent care. He ordered a Covid test for me. I called ahead and they told me to come in.
They did chest x-rays and labs. I got a thorough exam.
Test results came back and I was told I had pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung. And I probably had Covid as the rest of my symptoms were all in line.
But…they did not have enough tests. I have no confirmation that I have it but the doc there said, “You have it.”

I was given antibiotics and Albuterol. And sent home.
    I called my nearby hospital.
I was told not to come in. I did not qualify to get the test.
That was fine with me. I don’t like hospitals and there is always a chance you don’t get out alive.

My symptoms: I have trouble breathing. Wheezing. If I were any weaker, I’d be playing for the Mets. Going to the kitchen winds me. I have the worst headache that just won’t go away. I wake up with it and I go to bed with it.
My throat is constantly sore. I have a stuffy nose. And my nose runs. I cough all the time. It’s worse when I lay down…which means, I barely sleep at night. I can’t fall asleep sitting up. My chest hurts. Not being able to take a decent breath freaks me out a bit.
Fatigue is overwhelming. My body is screaming at me. I can feel every bump, bruise, and broken bone I’ve ever had.

In other words, I can’t remember being this sick. I get the flu every season and I’m miserable. But this is different. This is misery on steroids. I think I can hit 70 home runs in a season.

I should have been smarter about smoking cigars in this environment…but one always thinks it happens to the next guy; not me.

So, I wait it out to get better. Lots of rest. Lots of naps when I can.
Honestly…at this point, it doesn’t matter whether I get a Covid test or not. This is not the normal seasonal flu. Either I have Alice in Wonder Syndrome…or I have CoronaVirus.
Take care of your lungs…you may need them.
Get plenty of rest so that you maintain a healthy immune system.
And be positive we will get through this.
Man, I could go for a cigar right now…
Thanks to my friends for their best wishes…
    Phil

    • What a megillah, Phil.
But yer tough (like all us old bassists); show that fucking bug what’s what.
      Hope you’re good soon, brother.

  15. To paraphrase Sherman and Grant at Shiloh –

‘Well, Kohn, we’ve had the devil’s own day, haven’t we?’

    ‘Yes. Lick ’em tomorrow, though.’

    Keep ’em smoking.

  16. Wishing you a speedy recovery, brother!

  17. Get well soon Phil. We will miss you while you recover. I’ll put in a word with the man upstairs for you. I haven’t done anything terrible lately so maybe he’ll cut you a break. Lol.

    Kerry

  18. Get well soonPhil

  19. Jesus, you’ve had a hell of a rough few months. I hope you get better soon, and you’re family is starting healthy and safe.
