Rather than cop Nova’s story, you can read about them on their website.
THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
Couldn’t find a single review of this cigar. Normally, I’d just steal what someone else wrote. It also doesn’t bode well for the blend if everyone is ignoring it. The cigar is described as a regular production and yet I found no online stores that carry it. The Nova website sells their own wares, and they don’t carry this blend. I dunno…
Aromas are very standard for a cigar with a Mexican wrapper: Dark chocolate, espresso, creaminess, black pepper, baking spices, caramel, and cedar.
The cigar is dense, but the draw is exactly how I like it. The PerfecDraw stands alone. The cheese has company.
The adventure begins without much fanfare. An immediate burn issue on top of that.
Platinum Nova has a large catalog of blends. Over the last 3 years, several have been reviewed. The ratings for the same cigar have been anywhere between 84-94. That is a huge swing. The industry reviewers have panned this cigar portfolio.
This is a big cigar. Generally, they don’t start with a bang like a Corona Gorda might.
I will give the blend the benefit of the doubt for an undetermined time period.
Strength is medium.
Luxury Cigar Club seems to have the greatest number of Nova’s blends. You can also buy directly from Platinum Nova on their website.
I’m one inch in and flavors are muddled. I’m being kind. I taste black pepper, some type of earthiness, a miniscule amount of creaminess, and a touch of mocha java. No complexity or depth has reached out.
Malt takes over.
Remember…the $15-$18 cigar is coming to your wallet everywhere. Those $12 sticks will transform in the next year or two and you will soon be dealing with a fiver that ranges from $75-$90. The Commonwealth loves to laugh at this. They pay $90 for a single CAO. Taxes on their cigars is death defying.
I remember my days in London. The government took nearly 70% of what I made. No wonder that George Harrison wrote The Beatles’ tune, “Taxman.” The band had to flee England to keep their money.
1-1/2” burned. 18 minutes.
Strength is medium/full.
I’m getting the swoons without the benefit of smoking a good cigar.
I don’t think the folks at Nova know what they are doing. Industry reviewers giving their blends an 85 is like me dive bombing with a 65.
I scratch my balls to see if this helps. It doesn’t. The cigar could be an anonymous cigar blend guaranteeing that it is made by a marvelous manufacturer and is only $3.00 for a limited time.
The taste turns sour. Great.
Maybe 2 months is too soon. Nope. I’d taste blender’s intent at the minimum. And the only thing I taste is a cigar without papers. You might need to lay down papers on the kitchen floor, but no credibility at play.
Strength goes for gold. All I taste is black pepper, red pepper, and an unsweetened Sour Patch Kid.
I am not going to last. I will allow the second half to give what it’s got. If there is no change and it remains linear, I’m done.
The cigar leaps out of my hands twice. I must juggle to keep it from landing on the floor. A sign.
A funky creaminess enters. My tongue starts moving as if I’m a dog given a lemon to eat.
This is a terrible cigar. It is getting worse with every puff. Oh lord.
2-1/2” burned. 32 minutes.
The finish is like gargling old tampons.
A couple of different Nova blends got good reviews. This ain’t one of them. This is afterbirth on a cracker.
I will give it another inch and then I’m calling it quits. I know what I’m smoking, and it is not going to redeem itself. It is a lousy blend. Thankfully, it is expensive.
This cigar is a dog turd extraordinaire. I apologize to dog turds everywhere.
No wonder cigar manufacturers don’t like me. I get it. But the onus is on them. If they produce crap, I’m not holding back. I don’t care what the hell their backstory is…or how much love they put into their blending. A bad cigar is a bad cigar.
I’m done.
