This blend, in the Lancero size, was Cigar Aficionado’s #12 cigar of 2021. And rated with a 93.
Regular Production.
Released August 2020.
From Luciano Cigars:
“Inspired by the book “The Artisan Soul” (Erwin McManus), The Dreamer is a cigar that innovates in every possible way. Created to parallel the unique human capacity of dreaming, The Dreamer beckons any who smoke it to explore their own abilities of imagining what does not yet exist. In between flavors of chocolate and a bit of spice, this cigar is an invitation towards the future.

“Originally a limited edition cigar, The Dreamer’s success led to the lancero becoming a regular production in four sizes. Created for our co-founder and CEO Luciano Meirelles’ signature line, the cigar expresses the signature of its blender: the ability to crystalize ideas and inspiration with a complexity of flavors. A cigar that is truly an experience, The Dreamer will allow your mind to wander and perhaps allow you to embark on a journey towards dreaming of something New.”

THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
The sighted in cigar to proboscis aromas is one giant candy bar/cookie: Dark chocolate, dried figs, brown sugar, cookie dough, malted milk balls, and ginger beer. From the defendant’s table, I can smell savory notes of tart orange citrus, espresso, subtle floral notes, spicy peppers, and cedar.

The draw has the right amount of resistance. I know my PerfecDraw is staring at me. I refuse to look.

A malty beer beginning. Followed by milk chocolate, extreme creaminess, oatmeal cookies, citrus, and espresso. Okie doke.

Strength wastes no time…a potent medium looking to jump bail.

Cinnamon graham cracker. It is a scrum as flavors take numbers to join in. I don’t know why I said that. Jeezus.

There is a nice upending of social mores (mor-ays) as the cigar sees itself a complex being and hence, finds a foothold. A small treat of richness is wilding in the streets.

Slow as she goes.
Strength is medium/full at 1-1/2” burned.

Cigar Aficionado named this blend, in the Lancero size, its #12 cigar of the year. I admit the cigar is pretty good early on. That elusive richness context is in play along with growing complexity. I chose to review the big honker when I should have picked the smaller Lancero. That way it would have been apples to apples. Still, I like this cigar as it is. A big honker. Charlotte has a big honker. I have a little honker. It’s OK. She stopped reading me years ago.

The creaminess excels and drags the chocolate, espresso, malt, now grapefruit tang, and dried figs right along with it. The cinnamon graham cracker juts in and out. Have you ever jutted? Me neither.

Amazing how the human being acclimates. I live in a state with four seasons. Coming out of summer, the temps are still nice as fall begins. But it is rainy and 60 degrees. And I’m cold. I forget that two months from now, the high temp for the day will be 35 degrees. It is not uncommon for testy winter days to see 20 below. Man, my balls shrink when I sit in my man cave with the windows open to vent smoke while I write a review. You’re welcome. I’ll post photos of my shrunken walnuts. Show photos to your kids and tell them to get off social media or this will happen to them.

The cigar moves on to backyard BBQ flavors. Dry rubbed steak. Nice counterpoint to all those sweet baby james notes. Citrus grows in impact.

Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don’t. Somedays the shit flows and other days, I’m a crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess, boy I’ve been a naughty girl, I let my knickers down. If my brain wasn’t hardening as I type, I might be more prolific. I can’t wait to turn 75 and see the drivel that spews forth. My apologies upfront…to John Lennon too.

The Dreamer is an excellent cigar. Very adult minded. Nicely sophisticated. I betcha a buck that the Lancero is even better. I would very much like to try it. This log is just fine but my tastes lean towards the more articulate sizes such as Robustos, Corona Gordas, and Lanceros. And sometimes the Belicoso. Giant truncheons just don’t carry the same sway for me.

The first major sweet spot occurs at the halfway point. 40 minutes. Flavors huddle like atomic fusion. Not so buoyant as earlier. A much more intense experience as complexity takes hold of the reins.

The cigar is readily available. Prices have not been seriously discounted. Luciano Cigars knows what it has. Of course, getting that lovely rating from CA doesn’t help…the consumer that is.

But $12, before any discount, is still a deal these days. Especially when a dozen eggs are the same price. I’ve smoked an egg. Didn’t like it.

The cigar industry has made up for lost time as the pandemic slowed releases down dramatically. It’s now flip flop or fly. Look out…jump back.

This bloody cigar keeps on keeping on with its bevy of impressions. Smooth describes this blend perfectly. Strength is a solid medium/full.

Listening to Son Seals play “Going Home” in a fun shuffle version. Less frenetic than Ten Years After’s Woodstock performance.

Big wallop at 4” burned. Strength goes for gold with an out of body experience of full tilt hedonism. My hands begin to shake. Now we’re having fun.

This might be a treacherous road for newbies. With 3” of the cigar to go, I fasten my seat belt.

Here they are: Malted milk balls, Guinness beer, creaminess galore, spicy peppers, graham crackers, seared steak, chocolate milk, lemon peel, oatmeal raisin cookies, espresso, lavender, and smoky cedar.

I heard from an old friend who wants me to play on dates he has coming up in Cleveland. Thinking about it.

Now I want more of these cigars.

While the leaf stats don’t scream ingenuity on a large scale, they were perfectly chosen. This is a unique blend that even CA got right. How did that happen?

If you can handle delicious cigars that will make you soil yourself, this Bud’s for you.
