My cigars have had 3 months of naked humidor time.
Casdagli Cigars is a sponsor but that matters not. It takes more than a couple shekels to sway me.

I reviewed the Casdagli D’Boiss DB52 back in June of this year. It is a 4.75 x 52 Petit Robusto. A great cigar. But as you’ve been told ceaselessly, size matters.
I did not read my review prior to this review so I would not be influenced. This may be embarrassing. You can read my review of the D’Boiss DB52 here.
Carry on…

BACKGROUND:
Released in May 2022.
Jeremy Casdagli has not disclosed the number of cigars released. Or whether it might be a regular production cigar.
From the Casdagli Cigars website:
“Due to the ongoing scarcity of Cuban cigars sought after by some of the clients visiting the D’Boiss Club Bespoke cigar lounge in Tallinn, we decided to take the matter into our own hands. The result is the creation of the D’Boiss Line of cigars. Using very rare exotic tobaccos sourced with our partners in Costa Rica.

“The name DB52 is inspired by the poker nights hosted regularly by D’Boiss club referring to the number of cards in a deck of cards and also happens to be the ring gauge of the cigar. For the filler and binder we have selected the exotic tobaccos from Costa Rica that deliver very Cubanesque characteristics. The Claro Colorado wrapper leaf also delivers gentle cedar notes to accompany the honey and almond aromas of the filler leaves. This is a medium to full bodied cigar and is a perfect smoke for a late morning or early afternoon break.

“This cigar is blended especially for Casdagli Cigars at IGM Cigars boutique factory in San Jose, Costa Rica.”

THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
Sometimes a cigar smells oh so good. Milk chocolate, baking spices, lemon, vanilla, and yellow matter custard.

My PerfecDraw stares in anticipation. I slowly shake my head triggering a response worthy of a drama queen from the tiny tool. Its tiny feet make no sound as it does the Hully Gully in its appeal for steady work.

Instant karma. First puffs are ready for prime time. Delicious, rich, and complex. How does Jeremy do that.

Aromas morph into flavors: Milk chocolate, caramel, vanilla, lemon, creamy, baking spices, and just a hint of black pepper.

If one isn’t used to smoking superb cigars with every dose, this cigar is a reminder of what you’re missing. It’s Jeremy time. This is what a good cigar tastes like. Damn.

Very slow roll and immaculate conception of the char line.

The advertised nougat and honey arrive. I flash back to a candy bar I loved as a kid: Bit-O-Honey. The blend nails the memory.

Since cigars are already seeing a giant hike in prices this year, and will accelerate like crazy in 2024, $25 for this cigar is more than fair. There are thieves charging two and three times that for drek. I completely understand for most smokers a cigar with this price point remains a treat as we struggle to put food on the table. Yet, who doesn’t deserve a treat now and again. I do. We all do. Next year when you see Espinosa and Patel charging $25 for limited runs, you’ll look back at the last couple years and remember you had it pretty good.

Big fat flavor points. No messin’ around. Real good day. Strength just touches the hem of medium. Nice morning cigar with coffee. Or six shots of Jack. Dealer’s choice.

Such a tiny cigar. Yet the slow roll is masterful. Like everything Jeremy creates. Sorry. I’m an undisputed fanboy. No apologies. Casdagli is in rarified air.

Only half an inch in. This is crazy. 20 minutes.

Milk chocolate, creamy, lemon citrus galore, coffee with foam, honey nougat, black pepper, caramel, malt, and a touch of cedar.

This is sophistication on a platter. There is nothing sophisticated about me. I’m not an industry reviewer. My life hasn’t been spent surrounded by old PCA ticket stubs. I count myself lucky to be able to report to you what I think from a guy-in-the-trenches mentality.

This is not an ordinary cigar. It is not an 87. I don’t roll like that. I reward creativity. It is the honest thing to do. Fawn away when the opportunity arises.

I mentioned in an earlier review that keeping a blend at medium strength is hard. Medium/full or full is easy. Out of control ain’t no feat. Measured strength is a feat.

I finally tap the structural ash because my lap is not an authorized landing zone.
The halfway point arrives at 40 minutes. Flavors are just crazy nuts. I do believe this cigar qualifies as a flavor bomb. Nothing hidden. For all to see. You absolutely do not need a seasoned palate to appreciate this wonderful cigar blend. Every flavor I’ve described is writ large.

Flavors don’t change. They intensify. Painted on my palate in three coats. I don’t want this to end. If you like Casdagli cigars, you’ll love the D’Boiss DB60. It will love you back…maybe long time.

The Bit-O-Honey influence cracks me up. The mocha java is all adult. Lemongrass is Thai and spicy with the perfect touch of peppers.

This is going to be a 75-minute cigar. You look at this tiny thing and think it is going to be over in 35 minutes. Say it ain’t so. It ain’t so. Stuffed to the gills saves the day.

Strength is solid medium. Flavor bombs away. Target destroyed.

This is about as perfect as a cigar blend comes. $25. Hell, yeah. I know I deserve a treat like this. How ‘bout you. You deserve a break from monotony?

This review is done in real time. I can’t do it any other way. It captures what I think in the moment. And every moment was bliss. I apologize for fawning like an ingenue.

You can purchase this cigar, plus a large assortment of other Casdagli cigars, from sponsor Small Batch Cigar (10% off with promo code ‘katman’). Luxury Cigar Club (15% off with promo code ‘katman’) also has a nice complement of Casdagli blends.
