My cigars received 3 months of naked humidor time.
THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
Here’s the thing…in order to smoke a twist like this, there must be an airhole. The draw, if not present, destroys all. For the cigar to be considered a premium, it can’t be an open straw. Accomplishing this must drive the big kahunas at Artesano del Tobacco crazy. It is up to expert rollers to twist, bend, and tie off a Culebra properly so that the end result is a pleasure to smoke. The El Pulpo achieves this goal and gets two snaps up before even lighting the stick. And I do mean stick.
Dense smoke and yet a perfect draw. Amazing. My PerfecDraw can sleep in. Plenty of cigars that need assistance waiting to be smoked. I hear snoring. Can an inanimate object have sleep apnea…dunno.
Very dark chocolate, espresso, nutty, heavy malt. I taste Guiness…that perfect hoppy bitterness, malt laden richness, sweet nose, dark caramel, and creamy. Wonderful start.
I didn’t care for Guiness when I lived in London…it was served warm and drank like one long string. There is a spittoon joke there.
Strength is full tilt. But very little nicotine in play.
I got offered a gig with Dick Clark Productions. But I was right in the midst of my stupid Eddie Munster project. I don’t have many regrets, but I wish the timing of that opportunity was different.
At $41, you get three cigars at $13.67 each. You also buy a conversation piece at your next herf. If you smoke it alone, you can wave it in front of the tv and talk to your imaginary wife telling her that you don’t care if she doesn’t want you to smoke inside the house.
I can’t say it enough…the draw is flawless while maintaining a slow burn that opens incremental flavors in an unhurried prickle. No matter how long the cigar sits in my ashtray, the damn thing never goes out. The char line can trim your dog’s balls without him ratting you out to your wife.
Poor Ozzie. He has truly sunken to new lows with one stupid tv series after another.
It takes an hour to hit the halfway point.
Sweet dried dates and black raisins. Black licorice. Turkish coffee. Creamy and malty foam. Boutique caramel. Celery seeds. Orange peel. Life is good.
Curved Air. 54 years strong. But always just a brand name with a long laundry list of hired guns…never a real band. Still, I added my two cents into its history. It’s pretty sad that I mention a band I played in 50 years ago this year.
I am totally shocked that this cigar ain’t a joke. My initial impression was that this was merely a herf banter piece…and I nearly chose not to review it. This is my third stick. It is consistently flavorful with a spectrum that any level of experienced smoker will enjoy…as long as you welcome mind-altering strength.
There are no demarcation points from one third to another. It is a measured drawl of inflections. Not unlike jamming on four chords. With every minute that passes, more chances are taken, and interesting dissonance is introduced. But the core theme remains intact.
The blend will do well with extended humidor time. Don’t be afraid of purchasing this crazy shaped trifecta of cigars. This is a good cigar.
This Culebra can be purchased from sponsors Small Batch Cigar (10% off with promo code ‘katman’) and Luxury Cigar Club (15% off with promo code ‘katman). You can also buy other Artesano Del Tobacco blends from those sponsors.
