THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
Mostly Mundane Monday.

There is a town a few miles west of Milwaukee called New Munster…I got nothing. While you’re brooding as to why I’d bring that up, get yourself a PerfecDraw and learn the art of scoffing at reviewers that spend even a minute on a difficult draw.

Dense chocolate aroma that is much better than the low-lying barnyard stink most cigars find solace in.

Time served has done this cigar a solid as it begins with a lovely richness. I stare at the cigar in my hand. It stares back. Euclid’s Law: No one wins a stare-off with a lit cigar. Immutable fact.

Fat domino of chocolate, creaminess, spicy black and red pepper, and some cinnamon thrown in.

I started to read a couple reviews of the Powstanie Wojtek. I stopped after less than a minute. This is one of those blends that is completely up to interpretation. Each review was wild with adjectives. I realize that as a reviewer, I have a different perspective. As I’ve stated numerous times, the only person interested in an open fan of flavor points is the blender and maybe the manufacturer. Everyone else just wants to know if it’s a good cigar…or it ain’t.

Depth, richness, complexity, transitions, nuances, and subtleties…these are mystical words that are the core of the cigar experience. How a professional cigar reviewer conveys these points is the trick. The average 10-minute video review spends 25% of that time watching the Dufus in Charge thinking and maybe saying something like, “Nice weather.” Me? You get a yay or a nay sprinkled with worthless rock n roll shit.

Long ago and far away. I was relaxing and eating pasta. Eddie the Butch shows up at my door with a beer in his hand. He wanted to talk business. I asked if we could please wait so I could enjoy my dinner. He ignored me and continued. I asked again. He continued. I yelled ‘Mother Fucker!’ And I threw my plate at the wall. Long pause. He picked up where he left off. Don’t let your babies grow up to be child stars.

Trendy term, ‘sparkly’ seems to fit at this early stage. Pop Rocks.

I recently found myself aghast at all the bullshit I used to write…as opposed to my current bullshit. I’d go on and on as if in some sort of self-soothing ritual. Who the fuck reads all this shit? No one. Just like no one reads the other mega mouths. We are a joke. We are self-aggrandizing assholes. I say that with all humility.

At the end of this spooge filled tome to some cigar I picked out this morning, I will tell you that a 4-year-old version can be purchased by one of my sponsors. I’m thinking about doing some grab ass-ing of that myself. This is a very pleasant blend of sehr tod leaves. Very smooth. Some appropriate and subtle transitions. A nice fattitude. A lovely natural sweetness that is just nailing it. While being a strong blend, its muscle is tamed and approachable…even for a morning cigar.

These cigars are very difficult to find now. Clearly, they were very poopular…and tasty too.

My box press burns courteously. No issues to whine about.

Before Curved Air, I was in Stark Naked and the Car Thieves. A name that drummer Stewart Copeland says he came up with.

Ian Anderson didn’t do drugs. The Jethro Tull leader did not approve of drugs. So, when his bandmates, who approved of drugs, smoked some hash with us in Curved Air’s dressing room, Anderson unleashed hell with a litany of verbal threats. This repeated itself over the next few gigs. Anderson didn’t allow us to tour with his band again. We didn’t care. What a tool.

This blend has been critiqued as a prodigy of the flavor wheel. Those reviews occurred right after the cigar was released in 2023. A year later, it has mellowed considerably. Flavors are more conjugal than bright and cheery. Both are good but I prefer the latter. The first half was excellent. The second half is lusher with a definitive complexity. You know a cigar is good when your tongue has lost control of the Joy Stick. I dated her sister, Gwen. I came this close to seducing twins in the 70’s. Not their age…

And the cigar goes out. Oh no. Do I write several paragraphs about this or do I just light the fucker back up. You decide.

I’m getting some googly juice and now thinking that buying the four-year-old Powstanie Wojteks in the bigger Toro size might be a significant score.

I felt cocky. Ginger Baker was in the next studio recording with his band. I asked if he was up for a jam. He just laughed.

Before I forget, is getting a BJ from a rock goddess better than getting a BJ from the girl next door? Yes. It is. The rock goddess has a lot more practice.

Here are my fancies: Chocolate, cream laden coffee, black pepper, cinnamon, slightly burnt brown sugar, crusty French bread, marmot impressions, and Marty Feldman eyes.

Strength has dwelled mostly in the meandering medium plus territory. With less than a couple inches to go, it ratchets up. My swoon is on.

Only a couple reviewers venture out of the hallowed 85-90 range. I am truly aware that my wild scores see disdain and laughter from the community. But at least you know where I stand. I make neither heads nor tails of what the other pros are thinking. They’d rather die than give in to popular opinion.

This is a fantastic nubber.

You can purchase the 2020 version (6 x 52 Toro), which is the same blend as the 2023 but with 4 years of box aging and holding at the same price as released in 2020, from sponsor Luxury Cigar Club (15% off with promo code ‘katman’). Brings the price down to $11.00. What a deal in 2024 for an excellent cigar.

RATING: 95
