My cigars received 5 months of naked humidor time.

THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
Generally, when the term ‘undisclosed’ is used it means Cuban tobacco. In this case, the Fuente website claims it is the rarest of rare tobacco from their farm.

I may have gone nose blind as aromas aren’t available. I go into hydro mode, and I find tiny notes of floral, cinnamon, melted caramel, brown sugar, and barnyard. My impression is that it was made by Cinnabon.

The cold draw has horse latitudes compared to the sum zero aromas. Strong notes of cinnamon, earthiness, lemon crème, potent cedar, black pepper, and peanuts.

Sweet birth with messages of peppermint candy cane, black pepper, peanuts, café au lait, hint of lime, cedar spill, floral notes, and aged oak. As I should, I am impressed with this $50 blend.

I love it when a cigar plumps from applied heat. The char line is as sharp as Schink’s wit.

Creamy peanut butter is unavoidable as flavor number #1.

While flavor points are immediately remarkable, the blend’s depth and richness stand supreme. The strength is a pleasant medium and allows for tranquil accessibility from palate to brain. No matter your level of sophistication, this is an approachable experience. And I’ve only just begun.

I saw that there are a few online retailers selling this cigar for as much as $80. There should be a skull and crossbones flag logo atop their page. Most cigars cost only a buck or two to manufacture en masse. This might be in the $10 range. But I’m guessing…or am I.

The creaminess has an edge. It’s nothing like your typical Connie blend with overt milky soupiness. The Opus X Forbidden X Deseos D’Amor is different. It is part crème fraîche and part clotted cream. Less acidic than standard dairy. The nuttiness subverts the flavor so instead of being mono-skilled, it is a diverse flavor full of complex suggestions. This is what we look for in every cigar we place in our giant maws. Unfortunately, smoking an AJ or a Viaje blend doesn’t offer the desired clanging of the cowbell.

This is one of the slowest rolls I’ve smoked. In the last 30 minutes, the cigar has only moved half an inch. I check my watch. I expect the denouement by 11:00pm tonight and only 25K words slaughtered.

The burn line is spectacular.

I’ve been on a Padrón run lately. Sometimes we need what we need. I love their sophistication. This blend is similar to the Padrón 1926 Serie No.90 Natural. Different cigars but as far as rich complexity, identical.

The second half bears down and coughs. I release my grasp.

Medium strength splinters for a sturdier balance.

My Katman blend from IGM has gone through several iterations. I found fault with initial choices. It looks like the winner will be an exotic blend with 4 years of aging after rolling. But only 1000 cigars will be available. I will keep you posted.

The OpusX has become an enhanced Snickers bar with roasted peanuts, creamy malted nougat, and flowing caramel. Imagine it being made in Switzerland rather than Tacoma.

Despite the power zooming, the blend is smoother than my tushy on a moonlit night.

No doubt, this is a great cigar. Fortunately, I was not let down. A bona fide puppy upper. Is it worth the dough? Would I buy more? I can’t afford this kind of luxury. Most of us can’t. Online, you must fork out for a fiver or a box. If you can find a couple sticks at your local B&M, that’s they way I’d go.

If you’re going to drop $50-$80 on a single cigar, then God bless you. But I’d opt for the Padrón 1926 Serie No.90 Natural instead. Pricey but easily available without the strings of dealing with pirates. You can purchase Padron blends from sponsor Small Batch Cigar. Take 10% off with promo code KATMAN.
