My cigars received 5 months of naked humidor time.
I’ve smoked a dozen of these cigars over the last half year.

I have a mild virus that is affecting my sinuses and sense of taste. I started the review…but I put the cigar down because I’m not feeling up to snuff. I’m posting this scattershot thing because the cigars are hard to find. But guess who has them back in stock? Scroll my babies, scroll.

THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
El Nuevo Comienzo translates to ‘The New Beginning.’ Paul floated a couple early names such as ‘Encantada de conocerte … ¿Dónde está mi plato de enchilada?’ or ‘Estoy atrapado en la prisión de Folsom Y el tiempo sigue alargándose.’ Cigar band limits were eventually taken into consideration.

All about black cherry in big heaps. Rich tobacco flavor like a Padron maduro. Fruitiness is widespread like the pandemic of 1918-1920. Sugary notes that taste like
Savory notes of beef on a stick with a soupcon of teriyaki
And that’s just first inch
Creamy, slightly tart lime,
That’s all folks…

Moments before I signed my first record deal, I asked the managing director (Nick Blackburn) and owner of BTM Records (Miles Copeland III) how I can keep track of my earnings. I was told that I could review the books anytime I pleased. Over the year and a half I was with the band, the books were always unavailable when I asked. I was told that I could see them the following day. The following day never materialized.

Copeland paid for our salary, living expenses, rent, roadies, music gear, p.a. system, transportation and accommodations while on the road. The band was charged fees with extreme prejudice. We were lied to that the cost of running the band exceeded ticket sales. Each subsequent tour, the rate for the costs went up by 25%…therefore, we could never catch up. Well, that was what I was told.

A couple years ago, I was in touch with The Attitude’s manager, Phillippe Mogane…a Frenchman who was Iggy Pop’s first manager. He put out a compilation album called ‘Godfathers of L.A. Punk’ Our song Hound Dog was included. I said I’d love to have a copy. He charged me $15. I never received a penny of royalties from the sale of the single. Mogane pleaded poverty.

A week before I auditioned for Curved Air, I auditioned for a part in a West End musical as a bassist/actor. The director spent 30 minutes of one on one time with me. He put me through the gyrations of asking me to act like Bill Wyman, John Entwistle, John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney, etc. I gave it my all. But as it turned out I was told that I was free to entertain other offers. When I asked if he wanted me act like James Jamerson or Stanley Clarke, the response was, “Who?”

These cigars are hard to find. SBC had them for only 24 hours 12 days ago. They disappeared like sufferin’ succotash from the mouth of Sylvester the Cat. They are back in stock for a limited time from sponsor Small Batch Cigar. Take 10% off with promo code KATMAN.

I look forward to reviewing this wonderful cigar as soon as I feel better. I hemmed and hawed on whether to publish an unfinished review but I felt it was a duty to let you know that you can snag an El Nuevo Comienzo while the getting is good.

  1. Chicken soup, lots of vitamin C, rest, and kill that virus!

    • Thanks Rob,

I am somewhere between feeling lousy and the cusp of being miserable. According to the bylaws of the International Brotherhood of Cigar Reviewers Local #14, I am required to smoke as many cigars as I can before passing out from lack of stamina. I am a bit in arears of my dues so I double up on the cigar count. I just ordered three tubs of chicken noodle soup, bagels, lox, cream cheese, a 48oz bag of Ruffles, 3lbs of cucumbers for gurkensalat, and 24oz of Brylcreem for when I feel better…from Costco.

I look forward to getting back to the work at hand.
Thanks for the tips and your concern.

      Phil
