I’ve been trying to find a cigar to smoke when I finally retire from the Air Force. This would probably be the one if I were too win.

Interestingly enough, I tried my first Cohiba just a few months ago, after a few years of smoking. It was a blind tasting and I was pleasantly surprised by it.
I’m not sure why I never tried one. Just one of those things. Probably because the band never attracted me. No skulls. Yeah, that’s it.
Anyway, I’ve been slowly grabbing a few over the past few weeks so I can at least say, “I’ve had that”.

I’m sitting on just one of these. I’m scared to smoke it because if I like it then I’ll probably buy more. If I hate it I’ll feel like an idiot for spending that kind of money. Chances are it will land on one of those two options. Love your reviews dude, always informative AND entertaining 🙂

I’ve never been a big fan of Cohiba cigars, as I always thought they were too expensive. But for my 53rd birthday, a buddy bought me the Serie M. It changed my mind about about Cohiba. I picked up some small citrus notes, and I was hooked. Since , I’ve enjoyed the Riviera, and the Wellers. Id love to try the Spectre, but it’s way out of my price range, so I’d love to win a chance!

This would be a celebratory retirement smoke in 2026. Zero chance I’d blindly spend $150 on a cigar. After smoking a new cigar I always look for your review to compare notes. Keep up the entertaining cigar critiques.

Hell yes who wouldn’t wanna smoke that cigar at least once. If it’s like a lot of the domestic Cohiba sticks it’s likely only worth smoking once. But if it comes with free stickers of the Katman, I’m totally in!

Does it count as me having smoked a $150 cigar if it costs $150 now, but was worth about $30 when I smoked it? Hmmm… (It was a Cuban Cohiba and I got it in a trade so there’s that)
I love “tube not included”; I thought that was an architectural drawing of new condos being built in Berlin or something, like HUH?

At this price, I would expect this to have been rolled by Ernst Stavro Blofeld and his cat. Seriously, it would be great to compare this with the $10 Cohibas I smoked in Cuba a few months ago.

Ten dollar Cohiba in Cuba? That must have been from your taxi driver’s friend who “works in the factory”. 😂

Agreed, the price was laughably low. Kind of like the price of a restaurant meal in Lusaka (although that was in 2010). I bought them at a cigar bar, supposedly run by Habanos at one of the government owned resorts. The hologram and printing on the bands looked good, much better than the fakes they sell in Mexico. I guess there is no way to know for sure if they were legit, but they were damned good and consistent year over year. Cuba is full of people desperate for US dollars, so anything is possible. I’m going back next year – any other tips on how to spot fakes would be appreciated.

Unless its changed, all Cuban cigars will have a triple crown at the head. Most of the non Cubans will only have a double crown.

Well, if your “Cohiba” tasted good then you won the game! You are right, though, anything is possible there. Between the sticks coming out the back door and the desperate people trying to feed their families it’s is quite possible that those sticks were legit. Spotting fakes is getting more and more difficult. If they don’t have a triple cap, forget it. If they do have a triple cap that is poorly constructed, forget it. The holographic Cohiba bands from the Netherlands are now coming out the back door and are being put onto farm rolls which are very hard to spot as fakes. As for Lusaka, I haven been there in a while but yes, for a few bucks you can eat like a king.

All Cohibas are overpriced. I’ve had a few, (Red, Blue, Black, Riviera) they are good but there are other cigars cheaper but better( My Fathers, Original Padrons, etc. Did you ever consider calling Curved Air Broken Wind?

I have a sneaking suspicion the Katman swag will have much more meaning than this silly cigar. Packaging is dope though. I have always wanted to try a $150 cigar, but there is no way I would pay for it. But am very curious what it would taste like. By the way, thanks for all your great stories !! You definitely make cigars fun.

I’m happy to comment, but dont think I should receive the cigar. I think Cohiba charges more and more for a cigar with the idea that no one who would spend $150 on a single, new world, non-gold dipped cigar…would dare to sing anything but praise, if only to not look foolish for spending $150 on a $7 cigar.
A Katman sticker and Katman fridge magnet would hold much more value to me than a $150 Cohiba…but, someone’s gotta smoke it.

Relatively new in my cigar “journey”, so very hesitant to spend a lot of money for a stick I’m not confident I’ll like. Looks may be deceiving, but this looks like something special. Would love to try something as unique as this (to be honest, had me at Mexican SA and Criollo ’98).

Once again paying for the packaging .. first 1/2 inch its wow then the rancidity begins just like the Opus x . So many great cigars out there why waste you dough .. Then about half way you get a run thats unstoppable even when spit is applied .. Taste cow dung so off comes the band and over the deck railing it goes .. $ 150 bucks down the drain .. @ 64 I have smoked so many cigars and the best are often the middle of the road in price .. Over paying doesn’t make you show others you loaded it make me know you brainless !! Save your money buy so Dunbarton Trust or some old Caldwells before he sold his soul , cant believe anything coming out of his mouth hes such a Bull sh!tt@r .. Anyhow . Heck look what I get every 7 years of aging ,, more trips to the Drs .. Well thats my summation .. I sounds like that guys running for mayor of Minneapolis bring the third world to America .. No thanks !

Love your tour stories and reviews! They’re more entertaining and informative than most! As a Phish fan I get a kick out of the fact that you used to play with Stew Copeland. His project with Trey Anastasio and Les Claypool is really cool if you haven’t checked it out yet.
Also kinda surprised you don’t like the Dead. Yeah Jerry wasn’t a great singer but there’s so much more to the music than that. Bobby, Pigpen, and Brent are/were incredible singers, and Phil was a pioneering bass player.
Anyway keep the killer reviews coming! You inform my cigar purchases more than any other source and haven’t once let me down.

Kinda surprised you don’t like the dead though. Yeah Jerry’s voice wasn’t great but Bobby, Pigpen, and Brent all had great voices back in the day and Phil was a true pioneer on the bass.
