BACKGROUND:
From Casdagli Cigars:
“During a tasting in the UAE to introduce the Villa Casdagli Line, we created 6 petit exquisitos to represent each of the tobaccos found in the Villa Casdagli Toro. The participants were so impressed by the varying characteristics of the different tobaccos that we took the decision to create this unique line.”
THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
Instant chocolate when you open the cello. This is not an infused cigar. Au naturel.
These cigars are packed. A bit tight. Dread and loathing kicks in as I carefully insert my PerfecDraw. I stand by my professional status as a cigar dipwad. A light swoosh and it’s done. I’m good.
Sweetness is equivalent to Creamy Curd Paste and Chocolate Covered Kissel.
Very nutty. This would be the opportunity to make fun of my Uncle Peretz’s peekaboo globes…but now, when I stare down at the floor…and see two medium sized walnut shaped things laying next to my Skechers…not so funny anymore.
I can now taste Vastlakukkel Semla. An Estonian dessert similar to boiled almond paste and bread soup served on Shrove Tuesday. But only every other Shrove Tuesday as there are laws in place. And I don’t want to seem greedy or needy or full of orange pestles.
There is a sudden richness. This little cigarillo is the real deal.
Semolina Pilchard, Spotted Dog, Buttercream and Quark, Sour Cream and Beef Drippings ala mode, Baltic Mayonnaise splattered on Roasted Barley Loaf, and Candied Prunes layered with Whipped Chicharrónes. These are a few of my favorite Estonian things.
This is a splendid, chocolaty, and slightly sweet smoke. Full of spice and complex notes belying its slight demeanor. I’m telling you it’s solid or Jeremy wouldn’t attach his name to it. I smoke them all the time.
This is a very enjoyable 20-minute stogie.
There is a partner blend called Peruvita that has a similar wrapper and binder but with Peruvian fillers. Same price.
Look, I’m not an industry reviewer. There isn’t a team of guys on the payroll of the katman. I prefer to review what I like to smoke. As time is becoming a possible constraint, it makes more sense for me to bring you the good stuff. If your palate is similar to mine, this is one of the places for you to see what’s going on. BTW- nice smoke output.
You can purchase these cigars from sponsor Small Batch Cigar (10% off with promo code ‘katman’).
RATING: 92 Damn fine for a baby cigar meant to kill time with.
UPDATE MAY 18, 2024:
SBC sold out shortly after posting this review.
They have a very nice sampler (5 Nicarita and 5 Peruvita) for $50 (before promo codes) of the Nicarita and Peruvita blends. This is the perfect must try. GO TO SMALL BATCH CIGAR.

Ferret is the caviar of the marmot world. Smooth. Creamy. A little hairy.
