The second deal is for the highly rated Montecristo Epic Vintage 12 Toro.
From Montecristo:
“Making use of an exceptionally good tobacco crop from 2012, Montecristo Epic Vintage 12 cigars continue fulfilling Montecristo’s legacy of crafting only the best and most luxurious cigars on the market. These ultra-premium gems are handmade at the famous Tabacalera Garcia cigar factory in the Dominican Republic into two top-notch vitolas. Named after the year of their harvest, these epic smokes are blended with vintage Dominican long filler and binder tobaccos that are joined by a second Nicaraguan binder and completed with a top-shelf Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper leaf that has a dark, dusky complexion. Once lit, your palate will be greeted with a refined and balanced medium-bodied smoke with complex notes of cocoa, cinnamon, sweet spice, leather, nuts, and oak that are incredibly smooth.”

I saw those epic vintage 12s last night and had a moment of weakness. I can’t resist a well aged Dominican with a name that sounds like it belongs inside a Marshall cabinet. Especially for 6 a stick. I’ve seen both this one and the 1935 Nicaragua referred to as the “best non-Cuban Montecristo”. And since I don’t travel internationally or have fuck you money for a box off ihavanas I’ll have to take the internet’s word for it. But I got those 1935s in August of last year so they should be tasty by now, and these vintage 12s have lots of age so I won’t need to forget about them for 10 months. The hottest, most miserable concert I ever attended was in Louisville. But Widespread Panic crushed it and I had like 40 melted mushroom chocolates in my backpack. Cop starts hassling us for weed as we’re walking out and somehow I manage to defuse the situation before he gets a good look in my backpack. Suffice it to say, hard pass on the derby smokes. Haven’t been back to the Ohio river valley since.
