As I’ve chosen the Robusto, the triple bands hide the goods like a 1940’s fan dancer. But observing what I can see looks just fine. Seams are tighter than my ass when the doc says bend over and say, Ooh, Daddy. The shape is a very soft box press.
A variety of Nic aromas fill my schnoz…floral, chocolate, malt, cedar, espresso, nuts, barnyard, black pepper, and black cherries.
The cold draw presents flavors of black cherries, espresso, black pepper, creamy Dilaudid, chocolate, raisins, cedar, malt, and charred meat.
This line from Plasencia ain’t cheap. I expect it to twirl my merkin. And then leave a mark.
The Plasencia website describes flavors of: “…tangerine, roasted cashews, and guava wood.” What the hell is guava wood? Do guavas get boners? If so, what are their plans?
The flavor profile is what we hope for when we choose a Nic blend. It is a blend that has an array of wonderful flavors. The first third focuses on clove, dark chocolate, black coffee, white pepper, and a very sweet component of fresh figs. The blend is very smooth that verges on being rich and complex. It is in its warmup phase. Normally, I would prefer an expensive cigar to start with a bang, but the Alma Del Fuego’s attack is warm and welcoming. Strength is a pleasant medium.
I will skip ahead (I caper in public) so that this is merely an invite rather than a manifesto
The second third introduces a charred meat-soaked mineral spikey taste…and then I get the advertised tangerine. It is impossible to ignore, and you won’t need a fancy palate to grab it. But if Plasencia had not described the specific taste of citrus, I may not have pinned it down.
The last third brings it home. Super complex. Rich and glorious. Very little nicotine. Strong but not invasive. This is one of the best cigars to come from the twisted minds of the Plasencia family.
Note: Buy some. Do the obligatory smoke too soon. And then put them away. For at least 3-6 months. A year or two is even better. Plasencia blends do well with extended age.
