“Inspired by a cigar that helped lay the foundation for Lure Cigars®, The Codfather is a deeply personal release that pays tribute to family, friendship, and the memories we create when we take the time to enjoy life with the people who matter most. The blend traces its roots to a cigar originally commissioned for Lou Cross III’s father, Lou Cross Jr., on the occasion of his 90th birthday. Unfortunately, the cigars arrived too late for the celebration and ultimately became the cigars shared with family and friends at his funeral. The overwhelming positive response to those cigars helped inspire Lou Cross III to move forward with the creation of Lure Cigars in the fall of 2023.
“The original cigar was crafted in a small figurado vitola. For this limited-edition release, the blend has been reimagined in a 6.5 x 54 Sublime, a vitola selected to showcase the elegance and complexity of this refined combination of tobaccos. A beautiful, velvety tan Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper envelops a Nicaraguan binder, with aged Nicaraguan and Honduran filler tobaccos working together to deliver a smooth, balanced, and flavorful smoking experience.
“The Codfather is a mild-to-medium-bodied cigar that opens with rich notes of heavy cream and cedar wood, followed by the delicate nuttiness of pine nuts and a touch of vanilla. A subtle hint of white pepper adds a gentle lift to the finish, bringing balance to an elegant blend designed to be savored slowly.
‘I have shared the story of how Lure Cigars came about and how this blend was instrumental in moving forward with creating a new brand of cigars nearly three years ago.
