Readers make a lot of fun of reviewers like me, and others, that can find the kitchen sink list of flavors in a blend.
We all get into the "Zone" when we review. A lot of focus and intensity goes into the process. The dissection of the tobacco is exhausting but gratifying.
But when I smoke my other cigars of the day, I don't dissect it. I enjoy it. Some flavors are strong but the subtle and nuanced flavors just become part of the whole experience without really standing out as they do in my reviews.
My advice is this: When you smoke a cigar that I reviewed, or any other descriptive reviewer, read along as you burn it. See if you find those subtle flavors.
After you have a highly developed palate, you can read all those bombastic comments, swimming around the internet, saying reviewers like me are full of shit; and you can laugh.
A palate must be trained. It rarely comes naturally.
